It’s November! Are you into all the festivities?

November! How time flies, soon it will be Christmas.

Happy Diwali!! … Guy Fawkes Night or Bonfire night are the main celebrations in November.  Don’t forget Singles Day 11.11 which is a Day in China, where unmarried people have a day of their own, as opposed to Velentine’s day. And Black Friday, too!

Singles day has evolved into a massive sales day by retailers. This day’s sale exceeds that of  Black Friday.

If you haven’t noticed by now, small businesses do not normally do Black Friday deals as they are small business. It is usually a one person show or a small family business.  Small businesses do not have the financial clout to give massive discounts.  When you purchase from a small business, you are supporting the family.

What’s Up?

This week, I had a pleasant surprise. I was mentioned in the BBC GOODFOOD magazine and one of my photos was in. It is a nice surprise and it is good that the magazine includes many festivals.  The Snow Skin Moon Cake is mentioned. It is the moon cake festival that was in September.

Halloween is just past and I made pumpkin soup out of the pumpkin. The pumpkin is not as dense or as tasty as regular pumpkins. The flesh is spongy.  I suppose this is because it must be soft enough to carve.
