The Leicestershire Carers’ Choir Christmas Concert 2015

Large Blog Image

This is the 2nd year we that we are performing the Christmas concert.  It was held at the Lutterworth Youth Theater.

This time my No. 2 daughter went with me. Many family members of our choir attended. There were at least 70 people there. We sang 14 songs and lots of Christmas carols at the end. The audience joined in singing the Christmas carols as well.

The occasion was graced by the High Sheriff of Leicestershire. I did not know such a position still exists.

The office of High Sheriff is at least one thousand years old. The Sheriff was originally a royal official responsible for  keeping the peace and tax collection throughout the county on behalf of the monarch. Now, that is taken over by the professional  police force and other government agencies. The High Sheriff is now expected, among other duties, to assist and encourage voluntary and third sector organisations. Hence his presence in our event. I must say his costume was interesting and dates back to the olden days.

The performance went well and there was mince pies and coffee and tea  during the break. On the whole the choir was a success.

The carer’s choir was initiated by Voluntary Action South Leicestershire and give us carers a respite from our caring responsibility and help us make new friends. We are also supported by the Leicestershire Carers Support Group which is brilliant in getting us the support from the council, GPs, etc. We recently had a Carers Autumn Bash in the County Council. We performed there as well. There were a lot of information for carers regarding help and assistance. I am grateful for the support.

Here are some photos of the performance.
