Chicken, Leek and Potato Pasty. An Oriental take on your English favourite!

Chicken, Leek and Potato Pasty is delicious pasty made with puff pastry filled with plant-based ingredients. The filling is made with vegan Quorn, leeks, and potato with aromatic herbs and spices.

Vegan

Since  vegan chicken pieces, are used, hence the name Chigan.

This Chicken, Leek and Potato Pasty is hand-made with locally sourced ingredients, and hand crimped for the authentic look. It is a handy piece of food for you to have at home, take to work or to the picnic.

The light pastry goes well with the aromatic filling containing a tropical spice, nutmeg. Nutmeg is grown in Penang, an island where I come from and it adds a different dimension to the pasty. Of course, there are other places in the tropics that this plant can be found. The bay leaf is from my garden.

As this can be frozen, it makes it handy to have around the fridge or freezer. It makes an instant meal. Add a salad and a bowl of soup (canned or otherwise), and voila! lunch is served.

Ingredients:

Plain flour (gluten),vegan quorn, leeks, potatoes, garlic, nutmeg, bay leaf,  vegetable oil, salt, white pepper, sesame, tapioca flour, turmeric, golden syrup, seasonings (soy, sesame, wheat (gluten)).

Storage:

The pasties are freshly baked, and can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days.

It can be frozen. To freeze, freeze on the day of purchase. It can be frozen for 2 months.

To serve:

• Defrost and heat in oven Mark 4 180C for 12 to 15 minutes.
• The heating instruction is a guide only and depends on your oven.
• Cool and serve.

If you do not have time to defrost, add 5+ minutes to heating time.

Always make sure food is piping hot before serving.
